Our Party Wall Fees
The number of notices is determined by the statutory work and the relevant adjoining ownerships. One adjoining owner can sometimes require more than one notice.
Party Wall Notice
- Review of drawings and proposed work

- Preparation for each relevant adjoining owner
- Land Registry searches and applicable disbursements charged separately
Schedule of Condition
- Charged per adjoining property
- Inspection where access is available
- Written Schedule of Condition

Party Wall Award
- Charged per adjoining property
- Applies where the Adjoining Owner appoints their own surveyor
- One Schedule of Condition visit included where required
- The Adjoining Owner’s own surveyor fees are separate
- Award preparation and practical safeguards
Other Surveyor Fees
These fees apply where the appointment or work falls outside the standard Building Owner Award service.
Agreed Surveyor
Where both owners agree to appoint the same surveyor to resolve the dispute impartially. The fee includes one Schedule of Condition visit where required.
Additional Work
For work reasonably required outside the stated standard scope. Where reasonably practicable, we will explain any significant additional costs before substantial additional work is undertaken.
What Can Affect the Final Cost?
The stated rates apply to straightforward domestic matters. The number and type of statutory notices, property size, access, complexity of drawings, specialist engineering information and the appointment of another surveyor can affect the overall cost.
If an Adjoining Owner appoints a separate surveyor, that surveyor’s reasonable statutory fees are separate from PWS West Midlands’ £750 Building Owner Surveyor fee and will normally be payable by the Building Owner carrying out the works.
Where reasonably practicable, we will explain any significant additional costs before substantial additional work is undertaken.

Fee Questions
Is the Notice fee charged per owner?
No. The fee is £45 per statutory notice. One adjoining owner may require more than one notice, depending on the work being undertaken.
What is included in the Award fee?
The £750 fee is charged per adjoining property, includes one Schedule of Condition visit where required, and applies where the Adjoining Owner appoints their own surveyor. The separately appointed Adjoining Owner’s Surveyor fees are not included.
Are the neighbour’s surveyor fees included?
No. If the Adjoining Owner appoints a separate surveyor, that surveyor’s reasonable statutory fees are additional and are normally paid by the Building Owner.
Can one surveyor act for both owners?
Yes. Where both owners agree, one surveyor can act impartially as the Agreed Surveyor. Our standard Agreed Surveyor fee is £890 and includes one Schedule of Condition visit where required.
