Party Wall Costs and Surveyor Fees
Party Wall costs depend on the number of owners, project complexity and whether consent is achieved or surveyors must make an Award.
Notice costs
Each affected adjoining owner needs the relevant notice, so ownership and title checks are important when budgeting.
Surveyor appointments
If a dispute arises, the Building Owner usually pays reasonable costs associated with works undertaken for their benefit. A second surveyor can increase the overall cost.
Keeping fees proportionate
Clear drawings, early notice, prompt responses and an Agreed Surveyor where appropriate can reduce unnecessary time and duplication.

Is the neighbour’s surveyor free?
The adjoining owner normally does not pay reasonable fees where the works benefit the Building Owner, but costs must remain reasonable.
What does £750 include?
For a straightforward matter, the Award fee includes the Schedule of Condition.
Can complex work cost more?
Yes. Specialist engineering, multiple owners or prolonged negotiations can require additional work.
